website of the day – these guys came into the studio with me years ago to talk about this unusual project, designed to bring music lovers and players from all over the planet together for a single cause. it was supposed to be a “one off” project…but it’s taken off like a bottle rocket. don’t know how many songs/CDs they’ve released now. but this is my favorite. am proud to have been part of the initial steps.

video of the day – a very special version of a VERY special song. anyone who knows me has been told (repeatedly) that, at least, this ONE piece of music (The Grateful Dead’s “Ripple”) must be played at my funeral/memorial service, etc… sadly, my youngest cousin, who passed last year, beat me to it. we were always competitive.
this version may not have the simple beauty of the original…but as a video piece…it’s rather astonishing. real musicians from all over the planet, simultaneously playing the same song with their own specialized instrument in their own homeland.
(just so people watchers will know…the first “lead” vocal is the front man from “Los Lobos”. the other two, you’ll certainly recognize. and yes, that’s Jerry Garcia’s daughter in that one brief shot)
