Bryan College reopens after potential bomb threat Wednesday

DAYTON, Tenn. (WDEF) — Bryan College stated on social media that it received an all-clear from authorities to return to campus.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the college said students could return to their dorms.

Bryan College’s dining hall is open Wednesday night from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. They will also have a campus informational and prayer gathering afterward at 7:15 p.m.

“We take any safety concerns extremely seriously. Authorities will continue to investigate the situation,” the college added.

The college will offer counseling services on Thursday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for anyone needing to process the incident.


DAYTON, Tenn. (WDEF) — Bryan College reported it received an unverified bomb threat on Wednesday and is closing for the day.

The college said it anticipates reopening Wednesday evening.

Students currently do not have access to any campus buildings until the college receives an all-clear from authorities. They will notify students with their campus emergency alert system.

All Wednesday exams are being rescheduled.

Faculty and staff are also excused for the rest of the day. “Essential personnel will continue working and are available as needed,” Bryan College said in a social media post.

Students who need a safe place to stay at this time can go to New Union, First Baptist and Grace Bible Churches.
