Chattanooga Police arrest suspect in Tunnel Boulevard shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police have made an arrest in a shooting that occurred in April on Tunnel Boulevard.

CPD arrested 29-year-old Geonta Gaines on May 1.

Police said Gaines shot a 31-year-old man inside a convenience store on Tunnel Boulevard. They added that the victim was with his spouse and two-year-old child in a checkout line when Gaines shot him.

Additionally, police said Gaines then “fired another round in the direction of the victim’s spouse and other customers.”

Gaines now faces three counts of attempted first degree murder, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon charges.

He has been booked into the Hamilton County Jail.

The victim in this case had serious injuries but was stabilized at the hospital, according to CPD.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A person was shot Thursday at a gas station on Tunnel Boulevard, according to police.

The Chattanooga Police Department responded to the incident just before 1:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Tunnel Boulevard.

Police also said the shooting took place inside the gas station at this location.

The victim was a man, who HCEMS took to a local hospital. They said he was in stable condition.

CPD is still investigating. They ask that anyone with information on this incident call them at 423-643-5100.
