CHICKAMAUGA, Ga. (WDEF)- 130 years ago Saturday, the city of Chickamauga had their first government.

Residents celebrated downtown with a car show–live music and a movie.

Chickamauga is filled with rich history.

The city manager says that being able to gather together with his neighbors means a lot to him.

Michael Haney says, “There’s a lot of heritage here and it’s really nice to see the city keep producing every year. We are a small commmunity and a small city and we do well. I really appreciate the environment that I live in, the city I live in and being able to do stuff like this and enjoy our town.”

A courthouse was built in 1820 in then Cherokee County.

The Battle of Chickamauga was fought 100 years later.
