DeKalb County man found guilty of child sexual abuse

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) — A DeKalb County jury has found a man guilty of sodomy and child sexual abuse, according to District Attorney Summer Summerford.

The jury found Joseph Thomas Roden guilty following a 30-minute deliberation on Friday, April 12.

They found him guilty of sodomy in the first-degree and two counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12.

He will be sentenced on May 8 by Circuit Judge Andrew Hairston. He may face 30 years to life in prison. First-degree sodomy is a Class A felony and sexual abuse of a child is a Class B felony.

According to the DA, evidence indicated that Roden sexually abused two minor victims on multiple occasions.
